Market is Hot, Gas is Rising
Bottled gas for cooking has gone up again. As of Sunday 21st June, all 100, 25 and 10 pound tanks went up. A hundred pound fill will now be 1,298.25 Cordoba’s (was 1,279.25), twenty five pounds is now 282.25 (was 278) and the small ten pound tank is 113 (was 111.25). These are Managua prices, other regions may be more. The increase is being blamed on the strong market for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and high rural transportation costs.

New C10 Coin – a “Fiddy”
The Central bank of Nicaragua has put the new 10 Córdoba Cordoba coin (about 50 cents US) into circulation two weeks ago. This gold colour coin features the figure of Andrés Castro, hero of the Battle of San Jacinto. On the reverse side is the Shield of Nicaragua

A Very Grand Duchy
By Kelvin Marshall
The Department of Rivas, including San Juan del Sur, will benefit from the donation of five dental chairs from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

They will be placed at various health clinics around Rivas. One has already been installed at the Gaspar Garcia Laviana Hospital (Rivas); others will go to the clinic (Centro de Salud) in San Juan del Sur, Belén and Buenos Aires. The allocation of a chair for Sapoá will enable the border district of Cardenas to offer public dentistry for the first time. Each of the five chairs comes with a sterilization unit and dental tools worth nearly about US$6,000, making the total donation about US$30,000.

MINSA, the Government Department of Health invested well over one hundred thousand Cordoba’s to prepare each location for the chairs.
