According to victims, two masked men armed with knives entered their home (in a beach community near Majagual) in the early hours of morning, threatened them and demanded money. At some point the attackers took two laptops, some jewelry and forcibly removed rings from both of them. The victims were forced into their own vehicle (a Toyota HiLux truck) which was then driven away by one of the assailants. As they drove away from the house, an unarmed security guard tried to prevent the vehicle from leaving but he too was forced into the vehicle.

A second security guard intercepted the vehicle and shone his flashlight into the eyes of the driver as it tried to leave the area, causing the driver to to lose control of the vehicle and swerve into a tree. The bandits fled the accident scene with the computers and the jewelry leaving all three kidnap victims behind along with a badly damaged truck. Rivas Police are investigating the crime.
